Breeder Rights
All of the varieties in the Inca Collection® have been protected via plant breeder’s rights under the name of the breeder, Könst Alstroemeria BV (The Netherlands). This means that reproduction is not permitted. Protection is required in order to warrant the costly investment of resources appropriated in the development of each new Inca variety.
Before a given Inca variety is commercially viable, the plant breeder has to invest a minimum of 5 years in research and development. During the selection process 99% of the crossings are discarded; and, without the earned compensation for this work and effort, the development and cultivation of new Inca varieties would not be feasible. The result of this R&D program is a continuous improvement of the quality of the entire assortment of garden alstroemeria plants.
The Plant Breeder’s seal of protection can be recognized on the plant breeder’s name found under each of the variety names published on the Product WebPages.
